C.W. HOOD 42

The Soft Launch of the New Flybridge Cruiser from C.W. Hood Yachts

Details take time. We started this desing in th Fall of 2023. She began life on paper as a 37,38, 39, and finally ended up at 42 feet. The owner had twoo booked summers 2024 and 2025, which gave all of us time to get her just right for this day!

Her attributes are endless and I will get into the details of all of them later but for now, marvel at her!  Her stained mahogany exterior highlighted by bronze fittings, give way to  Prairie Beige decks, contrasting exquisitely with the Awlgrip off-white hull. I’m not going to say she is traditional, bespoke, Downeast, timeless…all words used way too much these days. She stands alone, making her own unique statement.

She is everything I dreamt she would be. My sincere thanks to the owner, the C.W. Hood and Lyman-Morse crews, and my incredible teammates in the design office, David Robison, and Steve McNally, for a job that is above and beyond. All of our experience and talents were brought to a new height on this girl.

This is a soft launch for testing the systems, she will come out of the water next week for final fit out, and her official christening will be announced soon.

About the Hood 42 LM from C.W. Hood Yachts

The Hood 42 LM has a lower cabin with large owner’s stateroom, enclosed shower and head, and plenty of storage. The main saloon will be open with steering and galley to port and a large settee and table to starboard.

All windows will be powered to bring the outside in on nice days or closed up for those cool New England evenings.

Her flybridge gives the driver unparalleled sightlines and a fun place to sit and relax.

Powered with twin Volvo DPS Drives for a cruise in the mid 30’s. With her DPS drives she can reduce her draft at the touch of a button, to take advantage of unexplored anchorages.

CONSTRUCTION

Hull #1 was at Lyman-Morse in Thomaston, Maine. She is the third boat in the series that Lyman-Morse has collaborated on with us, following the Hood 35 LM and the Hood 57 LM.

Here in Marblehead, we created custom interior woodwork components.
