C.W. HOOD 46 LM

An Elegant Cruiser from C.W. Hood Yachts

Early November last year, Drew Lyman called me to say he met with one of his longtime customers who wanted to create a new powerboat similar to our Hood 35 LM and Hood 57 LM that would show off her aggressive flare, long overhang and subtle tumblehome aft.

Within 3 weeks, the C.W. Hood Design Group had first concept drawings. By mid-December, Lyman-Morse had a full size mockup made of the cockpit and interior!

On deck a low bow rail surrounds the wide side decks as they lead aft to the cockpit. The owners wanted a side door. Our solution was to provide that side door but with an extra twist. We located two cockpit level alcoves port and starboard. Each has stairway access to the weather decks, making an easy transition from the cockpit to deck for people and 4-legged friends (who will be the boat’s crew!).

The cockpit has abundant seating and a large transom door to port aft leading to the swim platform which is large enough to carry a generous size R.I.B.

The saloon has the feeling of openness and clear, unobstructed views in all directions. The forward windshield is a custom single piece of curved glass that makes a dramatic statement from within and a stylish statement on the exterior.

Below there is a light filled galley to port. The stateroom is full of great features: large opening hull ports, lots of storage, private access to the head, and huge centerline berth that is arranged for easy access with gently rising steps.

Hull #1 is underway at Lyman-Morse in Thomaston, Maine. She is the fourth boat in the series Lyman-Morse has collaborated on with us, following the Hood 35 LM, the Hood 57 LM and Hood 42 LM.
